Most problems arrive as a mess: half a brief, a few screenshots, a process that lives in someone’s head. I’m the engineer who enjoys that part. I design the answer, build it myself and keep refining until the mess becomes something people use without a second thought.

Day job

Right now I’m a Senior Software Engineer at Bassline, working remotely from Sri Lanka for a New York company, taking features from the first Figma frame to the last database query. Before that, I built a social media manager and an ERP at Proleadsoft. My path into software started with a mechatronics engineering degree from De Montfort University.

Out of office

When I’m offline, you’ll find me chasing waterfalls and slow trains around Sri Lanka with a camera, drawing vector portraits of people I admire, or losing an evening to the PS5. Know a spot on the island I haven’t been to yet? Tell me, and I’ll bring the camera.

My superpowers

  • Design to production

    I design the screens and write the code behind them, so nothing gets lost between a mockup and a merge. When an idea hits a technical limit, I can rethink the design or the code on the spot.

  • Simple out of complex

    Hand me a cluttered screen, a tangled workflow or a feature nobody can explain, and I’ll find the simpler shape hiding inside it. A lot of my best work is subtraction.

  • Built for speed

    Speed is a feature, not a polish step. I think about loading, rendering and queries from the first commit, so a product stays quick as it grows.

  • An illustrator’s eye

    Years of drawing portraits taught me to notice spacing, colour and the one detail that makes a face recognisable. I bring the same eye to every interface I touch.

    Bassline

    Senior Software Engineer

    Designing and building an admin platform that venues and event teams run their operations on. I’ve shipped a drag-and-drop contact filter, an access-aware navigation, table service, self-hosted video meetings and a BI platform that draws 40+ charts straight from database configuration.

  • 2022—2024

    Proleadsoft

    Software Engineer

    Built Socialic, a social media manager for scheduling, publishing and analysing posts across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest, with AI content suggestions. Before that, I designed the database and led the back end and test automation for an ERP that scopes and prices jobs for a US termite control company.

  • 2020—2022

    GeoTechHub, Sabaragamuwa University

    Full Stack Developer

    Built a GIS application for the Bandarawela Municipal Council that draws, edits and saves land parcels without breaking their topology, with OpenLayers and Leaflet on the front end and PostGIS keeping the spatial data honest.
