Fun

Work teaches me how to solve problems. Everything else teaches me which ones are worth solving. This is the part of my life with no brief and no deadline, just curiosity following its own lead.

I’ve lived on this island all my life and still haven’t seen half of it. Every trip ends the same way: a road I didn’t know, a waterfall nobody told me about, a view that makes home feel new again. These are a few of the hidden gems I’ve found so far, and I’m far from done looking.

Turquoise river water under overhanging leaves
A quiet road through a tall green forest
Mahaseya stupa lit up at night under a stormy sky
A light-blue train curving along the tracks past a pine forest
Rows of oil lamps glowing at night
A red train engine crossing a black iron bridge
Mahiyangana stupa, white against a deep blue sky full of clouds
Waves rolling onto an empty beach under a blue sky
Rawana Ella falls tumbling through the jungle
Mountains and tall grass seen from the door of a moving train
Embers and flames of a campfire in the dark
The white dome of Muthiyangana stupa against a blue sky
A standing Lord Buddha statue carved into the rock face in Polonnaruwa
A white lighthouse rising above palm trees under a blue sky
Hills and a winding road near Bandarawela, seen from the train
The moon behind drifting clouds at night
A waterfall pouring over rocks near Mahiyangana village
Bright green paddy fields below forested hills
A train waiting at the platform at Ella station
A road running under a canopy of green trees
A giant golden Lord Buddha statue against a blue sky
